Mick Jenkins, Hunter, Chapterhouse & Jack Kays announce Auckland shows
This week’s gig announcements bring a diverse range of talent to our shores. Leading the charge are Mick Jenkins and Hunter, both performing in Auckland this November. Shoegaze legends Chapterhouse and rising alternative act Jack Kays are also set to headline at the Tuning Fork in 2027. Plus, we look at the latest tribute and covers shows hitting venues across Aotearoa.
It has been a significant week for tour announcements, with a busy schedule confirmed for venues across the motu. Hip-hop artist Mick Jenkins will bring his lyrical focus to Studio the Venue on 6 November 2026, sharing the same date as Polish heavy metal outfit Hunter, who are set to play at Big Fan in Auckland.
Looking ahead to early 2027, the Tuning Fork at Spark Arena is lining up two major international acts. American songwriter Jack Kays is scheduled for 30 January, while seminal shoegaze band Chapterhouse will perform on 5 March.
Local and international folk fans have plenty to look forward to as well, with the talented Louis Baker playing The Evolution Dome in New Plymouth this November, and American troubadour John Craigie scheduled for dates in Wellington and Auckland next April. Wellington’s Pyramid Club will also host the experimental post-punk sounds of Ludus on 24 October.
The circuit is also welcoming a variety of tribute and covers acts. While these shows offer a chance to revisit familiar catalogues, it is worth noting they are distinct from the original performing bands. This includes upcoming presentations featuring the music of Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon at Stardome, and The Psychedelic Mixtape at the same venue.
In regional centres, keep an eye out for Australian Crawl performing in Christchurch, Shonen Knife appearing at Lyttelton's Loons, and Berna heading to Club Wairarapa. For those seeking electronic or club sounds, Alan Fitzpatrick is slated for Queenstown, and BLOW will be playing the Southern Cross in Wellington.
Whether you are catching the genre-bending So So Modern in Wellington or the drum and bass energy of Synergy in Auckland, ensure you get in early as tickets for these venues are expected to move quickly.
