Common questions
GigJunkie.NZ helps people discover live music across New Zealand — browse gigs, follow artists, and get alerts when new dates are announced. These answers cover how the site works, where listings come from, and how you can support the project.
How does GigJunkie work?
GigJunkie.NZ is a New Zealand gig aggregator. We bring together listings from across the country so you can search and browse upcoming live music in one place — from arena shows in Tāmaki Makaurau to smaller venues around Aotearoa.
Browse What's On, filter by region or date, explore Artists and Venues, or use the map view. When you find something you like, follow the ticket link to the original ticketing site to buy tickets or confirm details.
Sign in with a magic-link email to follow artists and get email alerts when new NZ dates are announced, save gigs to a shortlist, see upcoming gigs matched to artists you follow, and manage notifications in Alert settings.
Listings are aggregated from public and partner sources. We use automated tools, including language models, to standardise artist names, venues, and dates. Listings can change quickly and occasional errors may occur — always verify date, venue, and price on the source site before you buy.
GigJunkie is for discovery; we send traffic back to original ticketing websites for purchases and official event information.
Who created GigJunkie?
GigJunkie is a solo passion project built by fans, for fans — 100% NZ made. It exists so you can be at the gigs, not hear about them the morning after.
The site was founded on the belief that music is the lifeblood of New Zealand culture. The goal is to cut through fragmented social feeds and give you one central place to discover live music across the country.
For more about the mission and how we think about discovery, see About.
How can I support GigJunkie?
GigJunkie is independent and run as a passion project. There are two main ways to support it at no extra cost to you:
Buy the creator a coffee — via the link on our Contact page.
Use our ticket links — GigJunkie is a Ticketmaster/Moshtix affiliate. When you follow a gig link from this site to Ticketmaster or Moshtix and complete a purchase, the creator earns a small commission at no extra cost to you.
If the site helped you find a gig you would have otherwise missed, that support keeps the catalog and alerts running.
Where do gig listings come from?
We aggregate event data from multiple New Zealand sources, including Ticketmaster, Eventfinda, Under the Radar, and Humanitix. Listings are normalised so artist names, venues, and dates are easier to search and compare.
When the same show appears on more than one source, we apply deduplication rules so you see a single entry where possible.
Do I need an account to use the site?
No. You can browse gigs, artists, and venues without signing in.
An account unlocks followed artists, saved gigs, email alerts, and personalised matching. Sign-in uses a magic link sent to your email — no password required.
How do artist alerts work?
Follow artists from gig pages or your Followed artists list. When new tour dates are discovered for artists you follow, GigJunkie can email you based on your Alert settings.
Alerts depend on what we discover in our crawls; we cannot guarantee every show everywhere will be listed. You can unfollow artists or adjust email settings at any time.
Can I trust the listing details?
We work hard to standardise and deduplicate data, but listings change fast and automated processing can make mistakes. Always confirm date, time, venue, lineup, and ticket price on the official source or ticketing site before you travel or buy.
How do you handle my personal information?
We only collect what we need to run the service: account email, preferences such as followed artists and saved gigs, alert settings, and usage data needed to personalise your experience. We do not sell your personal information.
For full detail on cookies, AI-assisted processing, retention, and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.
Does GigJunkie sell tickets?
No. We do not sell tickets. We link you to third-party ticketing and event pages such as Ticketmaster, Moshtix, and Eventfinda. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you leave GigJunkie.
How do I get in touch?
Use the Contact form for feedback, questions, bug reports, or privacy requests. We read messages sent through the site.
