Wednesday, Stereolab, Don Toliver & Post Malone Announce NZ Shows

A massive week for concert announcements sees American indie rockers Wednesday heading to Wellington, Lyttelton, and Auckland. Meanwhile, Stereolab has confirmed an extensive run of Auckland dates. Hip-hop heavyweights Don Toliver and Post Malone are teaming up for a massive stadium show, and metal legends Killswitch Engage will hit The Powerstation this spring.

The touring calendar is looking stacked for 2026, with a solid mix of indie darlings and stadium-fillers locking in dates across the motu. Asheville’s own Wednesday are set to bring their distinct brand of shoegaze and alt-country to San Fran in Wellington on 22 May, followed by a show at Loons in Lyttelton, and a date at The Hollywood Avondale in Auckland.

For those after something more experimental, the legendary Stereolab have confirmed a heavy run of Auckland performances, taking over venues ranging from Double Whammy to the Powerstation throughout May and June. It is a rare chance to catch such a prolific band in such a variety of settings. They share this run of Auckland slots with the folk-inflected Cass Mccombs, the emotive The Veils, and the folk-rock talent Cate Le Bon, making for a dense schedule of quality indie music.

In the world of hip-hop, the stakes have been raised significantly. Don Toliver and Post Malone have announced a massive co-headline show at Go Media Stadium in Auckland on 21 October. It is the kind of event set to dominate the local scene later in the year.

Rounding out the heavy end of the spectrum, Killswitch Engage are returning to our shores to play The Powerstation on Halloween. It is a welcome addition for the local metalcore community.

While there is plenty to be excited about regarding international touring acts, keep an eye out for smaller bookings. For instance, there is a show for Finished Business listed at The Commoners Bar and Restaurant in Christchurch. Just remember that acts like this often fall into the tribute or covers category, so don't expect the same scale as the international headliners mentioned above.

Tickets for the major tours are expected to move quickly, so get in early.
