About this show
Rory Johns and The Mystic is a jazz-influenced ensemble drawing on influences such as Nala Sinephro and Ancient Infinity Orchestra. The group blends contemporary jazz, ambient textures, and improvisation to create, immersive, atmospheric music that moves fluidly between, composed passages and spontaneous exploration. Their performances are expansive and exploratory, ranging from intimate, reflective passages to energetic, rhythm-driven moments, with an emphasis on creating an immersive experience for the audience. The group are continually exploring new ways to bring improvisation and composition together. Creating music that feels both considered, spontaneous, and rooted in the chemistry of a live ensemble.FEATURINGRory Johns - piano/keys Bryn Van Vliet - saxophones Evie Bamford - clarinet Pete Nola - trombone Tom Dennison - bass Jeremy Richardson - drumsBuy Tickets$40 General Admission$30 CJC Members$20 Students / Unwaged (& working musicians)$10 Under 18 (with legal guardian)Presale tickets available from EventfindaCash & EFTPOS door salesunless sold out priorDoors: 7.30pmPerformance: 8-10pmwith intermissionThe KingslanderCome upstairs to Nectar bar.470 New North Road, Kingsland, AucklandFully LicensedUnder 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardianSupported by funding from Creative New Zealand
